This Dutch Oven Chili is filling and tasty. Browned beef, onions, spices, kidney beans, diced tomatoes, and chillis simmer together for an incredible campfire treat. This chili's flavor and texture make it a great meal on its own, but you can also serve it with side dishes like chips, biscuits, or baked potatoes.:

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 red bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 cans (14.5 oz each) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 2 cans (15 oz each) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional toppings: shredded cheddar cheese, chopped green onions, sour cream, and sliced jalapeños

Instructions:

  1. Ok, lets go! First you need to Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  2. Now we will start to cook. Start by Browning the ground beef in a Dutch oven over medium heat. When done, make sure you drain any excess fat and then set the beef aside.
  3. Next - in the same Dutch oven over medium heat, add the chopped onion, garlic, and bell peppers. Sauté them for 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are all nice and tender.
  4. The next thing you need to do is to add the diced tomatoes (with their juices), and tomato sauce together with the drained and rinsed kidney beans to the Dutch oven. Stir to combine.
  5. Moving forward, you should add the chili powder, ground cumin, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper to the Dutch oven. Stir to combine.
  6. Return the browned ground beef to the Dutch oven and stir to combine all the ingredients - this is now going to smell amazing!
  7. Bring the chili to a simmer, cover it with the Dutch oven lid, and transfer it to the preheated oven.
  8. Now, make sure you cook it in the oven for 2 hours, or until the beef is tender and the flavors have melded together.
  9. Remove the Dutch oven from the oven and let it sit for a few minutes before serving.
  10. Ladle the chili into bowls and top with shredded cheddar cheese, chopped green onions, sour cream, and sliced jalapeños, if desired.

When you want a taste of the great outdoors, Dutch Oven Chili is the way to go! This recipe will not disappoint whether you're camping, hunting, having a backyard campfire, or just want chilli from a Dutch oven.
